What to Expect

The Xingu region offers an unforgettable birdwatching experience, located in one of the most biodiverse areas of Brazil. As the first officially recognized indigenous land in Brazil and the largest indigenous reserve in the Americas, it is home to sixteen ethnic groups, including the Ikpeng, our valued partners. This destination is much more than a birdwatching paradise, it’s a journey deep into the indigenous culture.

In Xingu, you’ll have the unique opportunity to witness traditional rituals, hear captivating tales passed down through generations, and discover rare bird species in the midst of the amazing Amazon rainforest. The Xingu Reserve, which is crossed by the mighty Xingu River, lies at the crossroads of two biodiversity hotspots (Tapajós and Xingu), serving as a bridge between the Cerrado and the Amazon. This transition zone is teeming with life, making it a prime location for spotting some rarities and many desirable species.

For the Ikpeng, tourism plays a vital role in supporting their community while also providing a platform to share their rich heritage with the world. Birdwatching here isn’t just about nature—it’s an opportunity to connect with the land, its people, and the diverse ecosystems that make Xingu an extraordinary destination.

Our team of bilingual ornithologist guides is highly trained and certified, with extensive knowledge of the region's birdlife. They will be responsible for guiding you through this incredible adventure during your stay in Brazil.

The languages spoken during the tours will be English and Brazilian Portuguese. For other languages, translation apps can be used, or a local translator may be arranged upon prior request.

Your meals during this tour will be of excellent quality. The inn offers a premium all-inclusive service, featuring red meats, vegetables, and pasta, as well as the typical fish of the region. During birdwatching days, we will provide fruits, beverages such as water, regional fruit juices, and isotonic drinks to ensure you stay hydrated.

Additionally, coolers and thermal bags will be available so that each traveler can bring extra snacks of their choice for added comfort.

It is important to inform us of any food intolerances or dietary restrictions prior to the tour.

The accommodations in the village are simple yet comfortable, featuring large individual tents equipped with spacious beds and fans. During the night, the temperatures drop, creating a pleasant environment for a good night's sleep.

Our dining area is furnished with tables and chairs suitable for up to 10 people, along with hammocks for relaxation after meals. The facilities also include three external bathrooms.
