What to Expect

The Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve is a birdwatcher’s paradise and a treasure trove of biodiversity. Nestled within the Jaú Endemism Center, this remarkable reserve offers an unforgettable experience in one of the Amazon's most pristine and dynamic ecosystems. The flooded forests, known as várzea, create a breathtaking landscape that supports an astonishing variety of bird species, many of which are found nowhere else in the world. Iconic species such as the prehistoric-looking Hoatzin, the colorful Bonaparte Parakeet, and the graceful Osprey are just a few of the highlights.

The reserve is also home to rare gems like the elusive Collared Trogon and the melodious Ferruginous Uirapuru. Whether you’re gliding through serene waterways or exploring lush forest trails, the vibrant calls and dazzling plumage of these birds create a sensory experience like no other. The Jaú Endemism Center showcases the Amazon’s extraordinary ecological diversity, where rivers, wetlands, and forests converge to foster unique evolutionary adaptations. This isolation has led to an exceptional level of endemism, making every sighting a rare and thrilling encounter.

A visit to Mamirauá isn’t just about birdwatching; it’s a profound journey into the heart of one of the planet’s most extraordinary ecosystems. From spotting a camouflaged Potoo at dusk to marveling at an Anhinga basking in the sun, every moment here is a celebration of the Amazon’s unmatched beauty and biodiversity.

Our team of bilingual ornithologist guides is highly trained and certified, with extensive knowledge of the region's birdlife. They will be responsible for guiding you through this incredible adventure during your stay in Brazil.

During birdwatching days, we will provide fruits, beverages such as water, regional fruit juices, and isotonic drinks to ensure you stay hydrated.

Additionally, coolers and thermal bags will be available so that each traveler can bring extra snacks of their choice for added comfort.

It is important to inform us of any food intolerances or dietary restrictions prior to the tour.
